KLC Security Concepts is seeking an experienced, highly capable Head of Training and Operations to oversee all tactical operations, training programs, instructor management, and specialized field activities. This senior-level position provides leadership and direction for our tactical training division—covering firearms, CQB, tactical movement, scenario-based training, force-on-force, and advanced skills development. Additionally, they will be responsible for general oversight of our contractors who are engaged in consulting engagements.
The individual who takes this role will be responsible for developing curriculum, assigning instructors, ensuring safety standards, managing facilities, and coordinating all tactical training across both NYC and Westchester, and consulting operations anywhere they may occur. This position also includes hiring, managing, and evaluating team members, as well as ensuring that all training and engagements meet our operational, legal, and client-driven standards.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Serve as the senior leader for all tactical training operations and consulting engagements.
- Supervise, evaluate, and mentor all tactical instructors, adjunct instructors, and support staff
- Lead recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of new tactical instructors
- Oversee instructor certifications, readiness, and compliance with internal standards
Training Program Oversight
- Help to design, develop, and refine tactical training curriculum, including:
- Firearms (pistol, rifle, platform-specific)
- CQB and room-clearing
- Tactical movement and decision-making
- Low-light / no-light operations
- Force-on-force / scenario-based training
- Specialized tactical courses for law enforcement and security personnel
- Ensure all training adheres to legal requirements, best practices, and safety standards
- Establish and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for range and CQB environments
Operational Coordination
- Manage and coordinate tactical training schedules across NYC and Westchester
- Assign instructors to courses, events, and specialized engagements
- Coordinate with the Operations Manager to ensure staffing, logistics, and equipment readiness
- Maintain oversight of tactical training facilities, ranges, and CQB structures
- Evaluate operational readiness and ensure adequate resources are allocated for each training event
Safety & Compliance
- Serve as the primary authority for safety protocols in all tactical environments
- Conduct periodic safety audits and training reviews
- Ensure compliance with state law, industry standards, and internal guidelines
- Address and document any training-related safety issues or incidents
Client & Partner Engagement
- Liaise with law enforcement agencies, security organizations, and corporate clients regarding tactical training needs
- Assist in creating custom training programs for specialized client requirements
- Participate in briefings, demonstrations, and client meetings as needed
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain detailed records of training activities, attendance, certifications, and performance
- Oversee development of AARs (After-Action Reviews), internal evaluations, and instructor improvement plans
- Provide leadership with regular updates on tactical operations, staffing needs, and program performance
Required Qualifications
- Extensive real-world experience in law enforcement, military special operations, or tactical team environments
- Proven experience instructing firearms, CQB, or tactical programs
- Strong leadership and personnel management experience
- Deep familiarity with firearms platforms, tactical movement, CQB methods, and contemporary operational tactics
- Outstanding safety-management skills in live-fire and force-on-force environments
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across divisions
- Strong organizational and scheduling capabilities
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between NYC and Westchester
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior supervisory or command-level experience (e.g., tactical team leader, training sergeant, team commander)
- Firearms instructor certifications (NRA LE, DCJS, POST, federal, SOF, etc.)
- CQB or tactical instructor certifications (ALERRT, military, SWAT, SOF programs)
- UTM/SIMUNITION instructor credentials
- Low-light, breaching, or specialized tactical training certifications
- Experience developing tactical curricula or managing training facilities
